An important part of the implementation of the “H-garden” project, funded by the European Union (ESF),  is the vocational training of the long-term unemployed, including the homeless. The first part was formal theoretical training, which was organised in cooperation with the Karlovac Public Open University POUKA. Our trainees successfully passed the exam needed to obtain a professional title for growers and processors of medicinal, aromatic and spice plants. What followed was practical training conducted at the beginning of April in cooperation with Natura Consulting d.o.o. on the immortelle plantation “Immortelle” on the island of Krk. The plantation is located on the northwest side of the island of Krk, near the bay “Voz”, in an area with favourable climatic conditions for the cultivation of immortelle – an aromatic plant known for its medicinal properties since ancient times. The plantation has an area of 80,000 m2. Our clients – participants in this vocational training, were educated about the cultivation, processing and distribution of medicinal and aromatic plants, especially immortelle. During the first few days, under the guidance of the educator, 1280 new seedlings were planted by hand and the environment of the plantation itself was arranged. The professional part also included a lecture with a slide show on the topic of technical conditions for the cultivation and processing of immortelle plants.
