Mons. Mate Uzinić, Coadjutor Archbishop of Rijeka, visited for the first time Haven House, the day center for the homeless, whose led by Depaul Croatia, in partnership with the Sisters of Charity. The visit was marked by meetings and conversations with clients, volunteers and employees of Depaul Croatia, with special emphasis on shared testimonies – life stories of the homeless, as well as those who work directly with the homeless in various fields such as health care, hagiotherapy and catechesis. After visiting the day center, during which the Sr. Veronika Mila Popić, director, described the activities of Depaul Croatia, goals and further plans. Archbishop Uzinić addressed the audience with his pastoral word of support. He encouraged the strengthening of hope, cooperation with staff and volunteers in the process of getting out of trouble, and especially the recognition of the living God in man. This was followed by a lunch in the dining room of Haven House and thus once again witnessed the Archbishop’s unity and closeness to all those whose only home is Haven House.
