One must sail, says the old sailor saying, and ADRIATIC CROATIA INTERNATIONAL CLUB, for the activity of marina d.d., in short – the famous ACI d.d. as the owner of the largest marina system in the Mediterranean, it offers an optimal nautical route, a safe berth and an authentic nautical experience tailored to the client’s preferences and interests. At the other end of the existential ocean, we at Depaul Croatia strive to keep every marginalized and socially excluded person sailing on the sea of life. Despite the sharp contrasts, we were united by our love for connecting people through activities, for preserving health and the environment, and realizing sustainability.
We sincerely thank ACI for its commitment to socially responsible business, which significantly contributed to the increase in the efficiency of our project. Make the most of everything! More precisely, the waste from a minimum of 26,000 meals issued in the Haven House during 2024, with the support of ACI, was recycled and used again. The products created by recycling food waste in our H-garden are: eco fertilizer (bioenzyme), vermicompost and compost. We use them in the cultivation of ornamental, aromatic and spicy plants, as well as seedlings of seasonal plants, and we further use some of these plants in the production of food products called Bread of St. Vincent. This program produces products such as breadcrumbs, bruschetta, toasted bread cubes, dehydrated fruits and vegetables. Through these programs, users acquire new skills, get the opportunity for rehabilitation through horticultural and other work therapies, as well as the possibility of formal employment.
Social entrepreneurship programs connect our users (homeless and people at risk of homelessness) with Depaul volunteers, external experts and employees. They enable us to get to know our users more deeply, learn about their potentials and interests, refresh their memories of rights and obligations, and awaken hope in them. Following Christ’s message that we love our neighbors as ourselves, we create new ways and enter into creative partnerships, such as productive cooperation with ACI, to help every needy person light the light of hope together with a sense of dignity, kindness and peace of heart.
We hope to continue cooperation with ACI d.d. in order to jointly contribute to the creation of a network of charitable societies that will embrace the whole world, as the marines embrace it on all seas. Depaul Croatia enters the year 2025 with two new projects in the area of homelessness prevention, so we remain in need of your attention and your involvement through volunteering, donating, mentoring, sustainable renting… All of us, as travelers on the sea of life, at some point need a safe haven and a calm harbor.
